The Digital Curl — so-called because of the sophisticated technology behind it — to ‘thermally recondition’ the hair by injecting precious hydro proteins onto the hair, allowing a technician to create whatever kind of texture at client desires, from loose waves to retro-style curls.
The Procedure
1. Shampooing/Relaxing & Injection of Hydro Proteins
After a consultation, hair is shampooed and a protective lotion is applied. After this comes a ‘relaxing’ solution, which contains many different precious water soluble hydro-proteins. Hair is then rinsed off later.
2. Hair set on Curlers
Wet hair is set on curlers — the size and number dictate the type of curls you end up with. The curlers are then plugged into a digital control unit to activate the chemicals, and for the next 40 minutes the hair is effectively set as the curls take hold.
3. Neutralising
Finally, a neutralising solution is applied for ten minutes, before the hair is rinsed, conditioned and styled. Do not wash hair for two days after having the treatment, but from then on, hair is easy to style.
4. Styling
Hair can be styled with a diffuser or fingers.

Question & Answers
What types of hair can be straightened/curled using these systems?Most hair types are suitable. A prior consultation with Mei will determine if this is right for you.
Is coloured hair suitable for straightening/digital curling?Generally, yes it is but the condition of the hair will be assessed by Mei prior to treatment. We recommend that if you plan to colour your hair this should be done at least two weeks before or two weeks after the treatment.
How often should I have straightening/digital curling done?The average time between treatments is 4 – 9 months. Hair texture and speed of growth amongst other factors will determine the best time frame for you.
How long do the treatments take?Usually between 4-5 hours but very long or dense hair may take longer.
Is there anything I should NOT do with my hair after treatment?For 48 hrs you should not wash your hair, or do anything to your hair which you do not want to remain there, e.g. crimps from rubber bands, clips, hats etc. Do not colour your hair for at least 10 days.
Do I have to use special products afterwards?Home Care products are specially designed for use after straightening/curling care to maintain the condition of your hair.

What kind of results do I expect from Straightening?If your hair is naturally straight and frizzy, it will make your hair shiny and straight.
If your hair is coloured, wavy and frizzy, it will make your hair soft and straight, but less shiny. The finish look can be enhanced by quick styling using a straightener.
